I Love: Messy Buns!

[For three (1, 2, 3) of the past six Mondays, I have posted about something that I love. Mondays are such rough days--does anyone out there actually like the start of a new work week? Does anyone say, yay, Mondays are marvelous? So to cheer myself up, and maybe my readers, too, I've decided to officially name my "I Love" posts on Mondays: book ends' Lovely Monday posts. Because wouldn't the day be so much better if you tried to think about lovely things?]

Maybe it's because my hair now reaches my shoulder blades, or maybe because Chicago is slowly starting to warm up again, but lately, for me, the messy bun has been making its comeback. Call me lazy, but there's something so nice about just twisting up a mess of hair and somehow ending up with a glam little knot on your neck. I'm afraid if I don't chop off some of my locks soon, I may end up with too much hair to do this...

Have a lovely Monday,

I Love: Parenthood on NBC!

Like I said on Friday, this weekend was spent mostly in my bed, although for different reasons than I originally thought... a kidney stone. Yikes. So between drinking lots of distilled water and an insane amount of sleep, I watched the first four episodes of NBC's new series, Parenthood.

I fell in love with the show from the start. Lauren Graham has been a favorite of mine ever since her Gilmore Girls days, and I really like Monica Potter (who looked so familiar to me, and figured out it's because she was in Patch Adams). The story lines are very engaging: a single guy whose girlfriend wants him to commit to having a family with her, a family dealing with an Aspergers diagnosis, and a single mom moving back in with her parents. It turns out that Parenthood originally appeared as a movie starring Steve Martin back in 1989, so I'd be interested to see how this show compares to the movie.

Parenthood aires on Tuesday nights at 10/9 c., but I just like checking it out on hulu.com, so that I can watch it curled up in my bed. If you're interested, watch the TV trailer here.

Cheers, readers, and let's hope I can finish my gallon of water today so I can pass this little bugger!

I Love: Striped Tees!

Each morning when I roll out of bed to get ready for the day and contemplate what I should wear, I always, always want to wear one of my Gap button cuff striped tees (I have one in grey and one in navy). These shirts are by far the most comfortable long sleeved tees that I own, and I love the length of the shirt and the soft feel. While I usually am not a fan of wearing stripes, this shirt is the one exception--the thin lines make the color pop rather than looking too busy.

Sorry my post is so late today... I just made it home to Michigan, where it is surprisingly warm and sunny. Yay!
