I Love: Messy Buns!

[For three (1, 2, 3) of the past six Mondays, I have posted about something that I love. Mondays are such rough days--does anyone out there actually like the start of a new work week? Does anyone say, yay, Mondays are marvelous? So to cheer myself up, and maybe my readers, too, I've decided to officially name my "I Love" posts on Mondays: book ends' Lovely Monday posts. Because wouldn't the day be so much better if you tried to think about lovely things?]

Maybe it's because my hair now reaches my shoulder blades, or maybe because Chicago is slowly starting to warm up again, but lately, for me, the messy bun has been making its comeback. Call me lazy, but there's something so nice about just twisting up a mess of hair and somehow ending up with a glam little knot on your neck. I'm afraid if I don't chop off some of my locks soon, I may end up with too much hair to do this...

Have a lovely Monday,

I Love: Striped Tees!

Each morning when I roll out of bed to get ready for the day and contemplate what I should wear, I always, always want to wear one of my Gap button cuff striped tees (I have one in grey and one in navy). These shirts are by far the most comfortable long sleeved tees that I own, and I love the length of the shirt and the soft feel. While I usually am not a fan of wearing stripes, this shirt is the one exception--the thin lines make the color pop rather than looking too busy.

Sorry my post is so late today... I just made it home to Michigan, where it is surprisingly warm and sunny. Yay!

Anthro Addiction

I am proud to say (though my pocketbook may disagree with me) that this week I went to my absolute favorite store, Anthropologie, three days in a row. It's kind of a little pick-me-up like drinking coffee or reading a good poem. (Side note: I actually found my dream job: editing for Anthropologie's website and catalogue--they wanted writing experience, editing experience, and experience with blogging, twitter and facebook... perfect!--the only problem is that the job is in Philadelphia, and I'm not ready to move out of Chicago just yet.)

Anyway, yesterday was an exciting trip to Anthro because I purchased... (dramatic pause) my bridesmaids' dresses! I am just thrilled with how lovely they are and can't wait to see the full effect. The dress is their navy All-Seasons Shirtdress, which apparently has been selling like hot cakes on the web, so I guess I picked a keeper. I hope the dress conveys the right amount of vintage and casual vibes while still remaining classy and appropriate.

What do you think?

Keeping Warm

Classes have started for the semester, and I'm already a bit burnt out since I have to read about 200 pages this weekend for my classes next week. So rather than write about anything of much substance, I figured I'd leave you with a tip on how to stay warm during the Midwest's latest cold spell.

Lately, I've been kinda crazy about laying boots, thick socks, and tights with dresses. All of the knits keep me so much warmer than wearing just jeans. (Just a note: my favorite pairs of socks and boots both come from Target this season.)

Stay warm.
