Our Little West Coast Vacation

Well friends, we're back from our vacation in sunny California and now we're fully rested and ready to take on another few cold weeks in Chicago until spring finally comes to us! Here's a little recap of our trip:

We played shuffleboard with T's sister and cousins one night,
and then we just had to go back the next day
to challenge T's aunt and uncle (we won!).

The next day we went for brunch at Ruby's on the Huntington Beach pier.
It was pretty cloudy, but the waves were big and
we watched a surf contest for awhile.

On Monday, we spent the day visiting T's 87-year-old great uncle
and playing hours of gin with him. I just hope I'm like him when I'm that age!

Later, we watched the Anaheim Ducks (quack! quack! quack!)
beat the Colorado Avalanche & hit up In & Out Burger afterwards with our lovely hosts.

On our last day, T played golf and I had a lovely brunch with my sister-in-law
right on the beach at Crystal Cove, where they've restored old vacation homes
into a cute little vacation spot where the skies were so incredibly blue.
We were able to glimpse dozens of dolphins while we were there!

It was so nice just to be able to relax, hang out with family, get a lot of writing done, and plan out my poetry blitz for National Poetry Month. Make sure you check back for a good healthy dose of poetry for the next few weeks--and let's cross our fingers for some more sun in the midwest!
